Thank god its Friday!

yknow, i used to think that Fridays aint that holy at all,

recently there's a lot of videos/games posted on the net,

A psychologist, Dr Michael Fenichel, after doing research, described a situation where Facebook "overtakes" regular daily activities. Eating, communicating with family and friends, exercise, even using the telephone is forsaken for Facebook.

As of June 2010, Singapore has more than 2,272,000 English-speaking people with Facebook accounts. This global social networking website enables people to connect with others. Its popularity is on the rise. It allows users to post and share photos, applications, videos, links and play games. It also enables users to interact with family and friends via instant messaging and the online chat application.

Research has already been done on "Internet Addictions Disorder" and there have been studies on social networking addictions. Although the medical community has not yet identified FAD as a medical condition, research points to the fact that there are signs indicating that people are suffering from certain symptoms need to seek help.

You have a problem if:

- You are glued to Facebook and lose sleep.

-You spent more than an hour daily on Facebook.

you people should know that this month is the 7th month in the Chinese Lunar calendar.

they name it "ghost festival"/ "hungry ghost festival".

we(most of the Chinese) believe that during this month of the year,

ghosts, spirits, including those deceased ancestors will be let out from lower realm.

It's believed that they pay visits to the living.

and there's alot of people with wierd encounters,

like seeing or hearing things during this time of the year.

people will also burn incense joss paper etc "for them".

and those really freaks me out)":

but my chinese teacher tells us that people used to believe that the 7th month is a really lucky month-,-'

despite the fact that it's really freakish, i find it interesting too :P

as in nobody can really prove that they really "exist"

and they have superpowers! :P

yesterday night when we got home from yoga at ard 10 plus 11, my sis went straight to her room.

to her surprise she saw a black bird sitting under her window staring at her!

and it flew away the instant she scream.

we all laughed at her and said it was norm. *regret*

so just now at about 6plus?

i was using my lappy (in front of the window), when i heard birds outside flying.

suddenly a black bird stop infront of the window, stood there, intending to jump in WTF.

okay of course i screamed and it flew away.

i assume its the same bird?

cause my sis room is just beside mine and our windows are on the same side.

lucky i have a loud voice LOL :P

i did some research on what black birds symbolize, but its like......

nothing scary so.....

idk but that stupid black bird really freaks me out >:(

so i find some guys really disgusting.

(1) they're so super duper despo for a girlfriend/attention

that they will start to call girl names like "babe" "darling" "cutie" etc.

and then they will go,

it's school's (bpghs) 50th anniversary cum opening ceremony today :)

we only have to report to school at 5pm for the celebration.

so we've decided to go kboxing :D

met Yanqi at 1230 at Lot1, followed by Xiaoyu and Camilla

and then headed to kbox.

had super great time k-ing with them (Y)

Everybody knows what is cancer and that they are deadly,

but do any of you girls know what is Cervical Cancer?

Cervical Cancer is really a cancer of neglect,

one of the most common cancer affecting Singapore women,

and its more common in younger women nowadays!

BUTBUTBUT!

if its diagnosed and treated early, you're more likely to recover.

Although Cervical Cancer is the only female cancer that can be prevented,

only 2% of Singapore's women are vaccinated against this fatal disease!

Alright i did some research and came across this website,

they have a very detailed explanation about Cervical Cancer there.

But personally i find it a little bit confusing so i did more research,

and i am going to elaborate it for you guys! :D

First thing first, where's Cervix?

The cervix is the lower part of the uterus (womb). It is sometimes called the uterine cervix. The body of the uterus (the upper part) is where a baby grows. The cervix connects the body of the uterus to the vagina (birth canal). The part of the cervix closest to the body of the uterus is called theendocervix. The part next to the vagina is the exocervix (or ectocervix). The 2 main types of cells covering the cervix are squamous cells (on the ectocervix) and glandular cells (on the endocervix). The place where these 2 cell types meet is called the transformation zone. Most cervical cancers start in the transformation zone.

Next, how do you get Cervical Cancer???

Cervical Cancer is a disease in which cells in the cervix change of grow abnormally.
Almost all Cervical Cancer are caused by a virus called HPV (human papillomavirus)
This virus is very common and it is normally spread through sexual activities.
It is estimated that up to 80% of women will get infected by HPV at least once their lifetime.
But our body can resolve most HPV infections.
however, sometimes, our body cannot effectively clear the virus,
causing the infection to remain in the cervix.
When these infections persist, they have the potential to develop into Cervical Cancer.
Cervical Cancer can take years to develop,
and you do need to have a family history to be at risk.

What are the symptoms?

In the early stages of cervical cancer, there usually are no symptoms. Cervical cancer symptoms begin to appear as the disease advances, invading deeper into the cervix and surrounding tissue. As the disease progresses, women may experience:
abnormal vaginal bleeding, including post-coital bleeding
pain during sexual intercourse, however this can be common and unrelated to cervical cancer
pelvic pain
heavy vaginal discharge

how is Cervical Cancer diagnosed?

The first step in diagnosing cervical cancer is through the Pap smear, a simple test that allows cervical cells to be examined under a microscope. If suspicious cells are found, then a colposcopy is performed. A colposcopy allows a doctor to view the cervix more closely. During the colpsocopy, a cervical biopsy may be done. If the biopsy finds cancerous cells, additional tests will be done to determine the stage of the disease.

most importantly, how do you prevent it?

Get a regular Pap smear. The Pap smear can be the greatest defenses for cervical cancer. The Pap smear can detect cervical changes early before they turn into cancer. Check cervical cancer screening guidelines to find out how often you should have a Pap smear, or check with your doctor.

Limit the amount of sexual partners you have.Studies have shown women who have many sexual partners increase their risk for cervical cancer. They also are increasing their risk of developing HPV, a known cause for cervical cancer.

Quit smoking or avoid secondhand smoke.Smoking cigarettes increases your risk of developing many cancers, including cervical cancer. Smoking combined with an HPV infection can actually accelerate cervical dysplasia. Your best bet is to kick the habit.

If you are sexually active, use a condom.Having unprotected sex puts you at risk for HIV and other STD's which can increase your risk factor for developing cervical cancer.

Follow up on abnormal Pap smears. If you have had an abnormal Pap smear, it is important to follow up with regular Pap smears or colposcopies, whatever your doctor has decided for you. If you have been treated for cervical dysplasia, you still need to follow up with Pap smears or colposcopies. Dysplasia can return and when undetected, can turn into cervical cancer.

Get the HPV vaccine. If you are under 27, you may be eligible to receive the HPV vaccine, which prevents high risk strains of HPV in women. The HPV vaccine, Gardasil, was approved by the FDA to give to young girls as young as 9. The vaccine is most effective when given to young women before they become sexually active.

Loving the right person at the wrong time,

And sometimes,
you think you’re already over a person,

Maybe that’s the reason why the heart is not always right.

So, here’s a piece of advice:

Let go when you’re hurting too much.
Give up when love isn’t enough.
And move on when things are not like before.

A man has taken off in a daring attempt to cross the English Channel using a cluster of helium-filled balloons.

To cheers from well-wishers, Jonathan Trappe lifted off from a field in Kent strapped underneath his colourful collection of gigantic inflatables.
The US adventurer, 36, is hoping to be the first person to cross the stretch of water by helium balloon.
He told Sky News shortly before taking off: ''I think we can make it. We have got a beautiful day here. We are going to fly the English Channel in a cluster of balloons.''
Mr Trappe set off from Kent Gliding Club in Challock, near Ashford - about 10 miles from the coast - shortly after 5am.
A helicopter crew filmed him rising slowly off the ground, with his seat attached to each of the several dozen balloons.
The aviator expects to reach heights of more than 7,000ft before hopefully reaching the continent later today.
But he said his final destination remained unknown because of the weather.
''Part of the adventure is you don't know when you need to land,'' he said.
Mr Trappe will reportedly lower himself by cutting off a few balloons, then fine-tune his descent rate by jettisoning water ballast.
He has already made a number of trips using his balloon cluster.
Last month he claimed a new world record for the longest free-floating balloon flight, flying 109 miles across North Carolina.
He described the English Channel as an "iconic ribbon of water that is calling", and in March visited both England and France to meet with aviation authorities.
Mr Trappe's seat pod is packed with position finding and communication equipment, but he is apparently not wearing an immersion suit. This could see him land in trouble if he is forced to ditch in the sea.
His feat is reminiscent of the hero of the recent hit animated film Up. That saw grumpy pensioner Carl Fredericksen attach hundreds of coloured balloons to his house and fly off to South America.
